About the Tattoo Artist

Hello, my name is Kristine Balakrishnan and I am a certified cosmetic tattoo and microblading artist in greater Vancouver. In 2015 I decided to blend my love of art and makeup with a career as a cosmetic tattoo artist! My goal is always to listen to my clients, discover their needs and wants and then take it a step further with my trained eye and skills. I absolutely love what I do because it is so rewarding to see the difference I have made in someone’s life. ¬†Microblading has become very popular in the last few years so when choosing an artist make sure to look at their pictures, ask around about the reputation of their place of business and you may even want to ask for referrals. ¬†Your microblading artist should be happy help you. Thank you for checking out my website and I hope to see you soon!

  • anytime AFTER the first year
  • if I did your eyebrows initially

What to Expect

When you come in for your appointment I will apply a topical anaesthetic and let that sit for approximately 30 minutes. Then I will design your eyebrows, keeping in mind your bone structure, facial features, and your personal preferences. Once you have approved the design we will get started. I use a micro blade to make small incisions in the skin and I use another anaesthetic during the procedure. I use high quality iron oxide based pigments that are naturally absorbed by the body. We will discuss colour and I will customize a colour that will suit you. I take before and after photos with your approval. The design process can take up to an hour as I am very particular about getting perfect symmetry and the actual tattooing takes 20-30 minutes. Your whole appointment will last approximately 2 hours. Please no alcohol 24 hours prior as this thins the blood and be advised that I cannot perform microblading on pregnant women.

Please be assured that all of my equipment is sterile and I only use sterile single use needles.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

Yes,lol, however I use two numbing creams. One before procedure and one during. Pain subsides drastically during the procedure as I keep reapplying the second cream.

How long does it take?

Approximately 2 hours

Can I exercise/resume normal activities right away?

It’s important to keep your new brows dry for the first 7 days so please avoid intense exercise for the first 7 days. Also no swimming, suntanning, saunas.

Will they fade?

Yes, they fade approximately 30% over the first two weeks.

Why do they look really dark?!?

The second day they look very dark due to the fact that your skin is starting to scab/heal and it’s bringing color to the surface. Don’t worry! They will not stay like this!

Will they be swollen/red?

They might be a little red but not too swollen, you can go out the first night. And they will look great!

Why are they itchy?!

This is part of the healing process, apply a little of the cream I give you to keep them a little moist.

A scab flaked off leaving a bald spot, what can I do?!

You can fill the spot in with a pencil (if it’s been at least 10 days since procedure) until you see me for your touch up, at that time I will fill in the spot:)

Should I shave my brow hair before I come?

No! I keep as much of your natural hair.

Should I get my brows waxed before I come?

You can if you want to but do it approximately 5 days before you come so they can heal or I will clean up your brows for you when I’m designing the shape.
